Caring for Your Reclaimed Teak Over Time

Reclaimed teak is easy to care for and rewards even minimal upkeep with lasting character and beauty.

Maintaining Reclaimed Teak For Outdoor or Indoor Use

Reclaimed teak is a robust and low-maintenance material, ideal for both indoor and outdoor settings. Indoors, it requires very little care—simply dusting with a dry cloth is usually enough to keep it looking its best. Outdoors, reclaimed teak naturally withstands the elements thanks to its dense grain and high oil content, which resist moisture, insects, and general wear.

All our reclaimed teak outdoor furniture is constructed using premium outdoor-grade hardware, ensuring long-term performance and durability. The timber itself has already stood the test of time and gains even more character as it weathers naturally.

Cleaning and General Maintenance

To maintain your reclaimed teak, we recommend periodic gentle cleaning, especially in exposed outdoor environments:

  • Use a diluted solution of a mild cleaner such as Simple Green Marine (follow label instructions).
  • Apply with a soft cloth or sponge and allow it to sit for 5–10 minutes.
  • Rinse with a gentle spray from a hose—avoid high-pressure washing.
  • Allow the furniture to air dry completely.

For light, everyday care, use a soft household brush or dry cloth to remove dust, leaves, or loose debris.

Weathering and the Natural Patina

Over time, outdoor exposure will cause reclaimed teak to develop a beautiful, silvery-grey patina. This weathered look is a hallmark of natural teak and one of its most desirable features. Regular gentle cleaning will not interfere with the development of the patina, but if you prefer to maintain the wood’s original tones, you may choose to apply a teak-specific protector or sealer (optional).
