Expert Tips on Maintaining Outdoor Furniture in New Zealand

With New Zealand's harsh weather conditions, outdoor furniture requires maintenance. Even the most durable, weatherproof materials need regular care. At Design Warehouse, we offer premium New Zealand outdoor furniture. We pride ourselves on using the most durable materials to provide lasting value.

Our selection of sturdy outdoor furniture includes A-grade teak, aluminium, wicker, and rope. All these materials can remain as good as new for years with minimal maintenance. To help you keep your furniture in top shape, here are some tips:

Teakwood

For extreme durability, we use A-grade teak for our outdoor furniture. This sturdy material requires minimal upkeep. For cleaning, use a soft brush and mild soap every few months. Apply a teak protector to preserve the golden colour of your furniture. Otherwise, your teak outdoor furniture will turn into a silver-grey patina, a natural effect that many New Zealanders like.

Our sustainable, reclaimed teak outdoor furniture has a similar maintenance routine. You can clean it with a diluted solution of Marine Simple Green® and water. Then, rinse your teak furniture with fresh water and leave it to air dry. Before trying any cleaning method on teak outdoor furniture, test it on a small, hidden area first.

Powder-Coated Aluminium

The smooth finish of our aluminium outdoor furniture is resistant to dirt and debris, so it will not need much cleaning. For maintenance, you can wipe your furniture with dry, soft cloths. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the powder coating on your furniture.

GFRC Concrete

Our furniture is different from regular concrete as it also contains glass fibres and resin, making it lighter and more durable. To keep your concrete outdoor furniture looking its best, clean it regularly. Use only mild soap and water; no harsh chemicals. Remember, concrete, like all natural materials, will evolve. This will add a desirable effect to your concrete outdoor furniture.

Rope

With our rope outdoor furniture, wipe up any spills straight away. Just mist the dirty area with a bit of mild, soapy water. Then use a soft cloth to gently rub it. Rinse with clean water and let air dry. Do not use harsh cloths or scrub your rope furniture hard. This will damage the surface of the rope. Keep sharp objects away from your rope outdoor furniture. They will damage the woven areas.

Wicker

Regular cleaning will keep your furniture in top condition for years. To clean our synthetic wicker outdoor furniture, use mild soapy water. Rub gently with a soft brush or cloth, then rinse with clean water.

Keep your New Zealand outdoor furniture as good as new by following these tips and tricks.
